logo_micMore from my experience in Europe: specialized as a simultaneous interpreter for conferences, seminars and working groups in Romania and the European Union (European Commission, European Court of Justice); consecutive interpretation with international programs, institutions and companies (USAID, US FTC, US DOJ, Romanian Competition Council, EU PHARE, the World Bank, ministries, embassies); legal translations and interpretation for NGOs and private clients (Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Human Rights in Austria, IRZ Foundation in Germany/Ministry of Justice from Romania – the code of criminal procedure, E.ON, McGuireWoods, Biriș-Goran, Henkel, Vodafone, Colantonio, Weatherford, NDTO). Certified by the Ministry of Justice since 2000. My projects also include editing and proofreading in English, voice recording in Romanian and English, subtitling.

During 2002-3, I was a Fulbright scholarship grantee for research in applied linguistics at the Department of English of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, USA, for a legal and economic dictionary of American and European terms. In 2005, I earned a Master of Arts in visual studies at Center of Excellence in the study of image CESI at the University of Bucharest, a multidisciplinary perspective over image and text in philosophy, arts and political science.

The common denominator of these activities, areas and clients, apparently quite different, is the passion that I have for the English language, for its current global usage – which makes it even more exciting. That is why I did research in applied linguistics /lexicography, and other personal studies. When you study and understand a foreign language, it becomes a friend, a new personal channel of expression.

French was first taught to me by my mother, who was a high-school teacher. After 12 years, she told me, ‘I have taught you everything I know.’ After 4 years at the university, I thought I knew everything about French language. I am still discovering it.

Both languages have been among the first friends I have had in life. They are family.

DictionarAuthor of a ‘Legal Dictionary’, English-Romanian, Romanian-English,’ published in 2005, at Niculescu Publishing, as a result of my work at the University of Michigan. The dictionary sold in over 5,000 copies and became a reference in the field of translations.

I have published articles in the Dilema and Cultura magazines, and at Ad Astra online.
